Welcome
The inimitable grace and majestic presence of a harp can enhance any event with shades of style, sophistication, and artistry. An accomplished harpist is capable of coaxing from the instrument a powerful palette of sounds affecting a complete range of emotions.
Diana began playing the harp at the age of five. As a former student of Jeanne Chalifoux, she is proud to be part of a distinctive
lineage begun by the preeminent harpist, composer, and teacher, Carlos Salzedo.
The Salzedo approach to harp playing emphasizes the importance of musicality,
technical proficiency, aesthetics, and performance. Her participation for four
summers at the elite Salzedo Summer Harp Colony in Camden, Maine under the tutelage
of the late Alice Chalifoux solidified the Salzedo approach in her technique.Diana Marie Gibbs earned her Bachelor of Music in Harp Performance from the Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University. At Peabody, she expanded both her solo and orchestral repertoire, performing major works by Mahler, Wagner, and Ravel. As a professional, Ms. Gibbs has performed in numerous orchestral and choral settings, most recently as a guest artist with the Washington Metropolitan Philharmonic, and with the choir of the historic Virginia Theological Seminary.
Diana is a trusted harpist in the Washington, DC area, where she has performed for hundreds of public and private events since 1995. She is a familiar face during high tea at the Willard Intercontinental, and has prepared programs for local landmarks such as the Smithsonian Institution, Coolidge Auditorium, Mount Vernon Estate and the National Zoo.
In 2009, Diana set the stage for a 56th Presidential Inauguration celebration held in the National Archives' Rotunda for the Charters of Freedom. Her music was also featured during the grand opening of the Archives' Treaty of Paris exhibit, as well as for art openings at the Embassy of Russia and the Meridian International Center. Diana was recently engaged for a series of events held at designer Max Mara stores in Tysons Galleria and Chevy Chase, and has shared her talent abroad, having performed for children in South Korea.
Diana is currently a member of the American Harp Society, DC Chapter, and an employee of the Library of Congress.
